Event Description:

Appearingfrom the South and moving towards the north was a big, orange fireball that resembled a glowing "roughly" shaped baseball.  As I saw it, it came over the horizon and whizzed above me until it was over the north horizon.  I heard a rushing sound...no delay.  (It) scared the !!##** out of my little brother and I.

I looked in the paper with my parents the next morning and found a small article about a meteor. Not sure about major details. I was only about 10 or a little older and my brother doesn't even remember the event.

Event Description:

I did not observe it as a fireball. more like moving smoke with constant tail white in color..  It was moving from South -West to North- East.  At first I thought it was a plane leaving an usual contrail, but this object was moving at a lower altitude than a plane would and did not leave a usual contrail.  This object had a tail which remained a constant length relative to the object. No debri was left behind. I am not sure whether it was a fireball because it is currently a very bright cloud-less day.

Event Description: At 11:30 PM Central Time a very bright white (brighter than Jupiter was tonight.  >Magnitude -2.72) fireball like object was observed traveling from the South to the North over Neehah, Wisconsin.  The object maintained it's form the entire time from my perspective.  A smoke trail was not seen because of the darkness.

Addition Notes:  This was NOT A FIREWORK.  I have enjoyed amateur astronomy and i was out observing Jupiter, when the event took place.  I can distinguish between a firework and a meteor/fireball.

It appeared to be moving, but not really falling.  Other comments: I felt like I was watching an exploding star from the Hubble telescope. I pulled over and tried to take a photo with my cell phone, but it didn't work.

A orange, blue and white fireball travelling South to North.  The fireball was brighter than Venus and had a bright white tail. It was moving across the sky slow enough for my husband to call my attention to the meteor and for me to see it for sometime in the windscreen of our car.

Impact:

Couldn't tell for sure. The meteor was high and it passed behind trees, but the meteor looked like it was heading down. If the meteor did hit it would have been in Nevada or lower Oregon/Idaho border

Unusual:

The meteor was very brightly colored and had a hot looking white tail.

Event Description:

A very bright neon green fireball with slight traces of  orange flares coming off the back.  The fireball flared up halfway in the sky at low altitude, falling at about a 35-40 degree angle not changing direction.  When it flared up it had an slight small orange trail behind it and then that disappeared.  No visible long contrail behind it either. IKt was viewed near ( http://www.crabtree-valley-mall.com/location/location.html ) 40 headed towards Crabtree Valley Mall.

The fireball travelled North-East to North-West.

Impact:

unknown, most likely..yes.

Unusual:

When it flared up it had an slight small orange trail behind it and then that disappeared.  No visible long contrail behind it either.

Comments:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_fireballs  if there were any abnormal objects in the sky the night of..incident, it was quite large and about the size of a quarter of an American quarter in the sky...however being night time and a bit hazy outside it may have affected size judgment and distance away.

Event Description:

A very bright and large fireball was reported over Hope Mills, North Carolina, which is 8 miles from Fort Bragg.  The object changed direction slightly moving up and down and a few feet to the left and right.  The brightness was compared to a lit match when first struck.  The fireball also had two trails of smoke following the fireball and travelled very slow.

 . . . ."it did change shapes to large half moon  then broke up to smaller peanut  shapes  then went back to one large shape peanut shape.ext  and so on and so on this went on for  a long time."

Unusual:

 . . .  a calming affect  all so in the moon shape orange color there was three black spots in the shape for just a few minutes as it was changing its' shape.

Additional Comments From Witness:

 I would like to know what this was.  It is as if you are to look in to a very bright light and your eyes  then see  little white spots in your sights. But it goes away. Did any one in Fayetteville NC see this  fireball?

 The Fireball FELL AT A 45 DEGREE ANGLE FROM THE NORTHEAST, VISIBLE FOR ABOUT 5 SECONDS.IT WAS A SPECTACULAR  SIGHT. I SAW THE METEOR WITH MY NAKED EYES ALONG WITH MY 3 SISTERS.THIS FIREBALL WAS REPORTED ON WHOT NEWS.WHOT AM/FM IS A LICENSED RADIO STATION IN YOUNGSTOWN,OHIO.I HEARD THE NEWS REPORT ON WHOT RADIO, LATER THAT EVENING. I BELIEVE, BOB COPE REPORTED THIS NEWS THAT NIGHT ,ON WHOT RADIO.BOB COPE MAY HAVE RECALL ON THIS HISTORICAL EVENT.OUR LOCAL NEWSPAPER, THE YOUNGSTOWN(OHIO) VINDICATOR, HAD AN ARTICLE ABOUT THIS METEOR. I HAVE A COPY OF THE ARTICLE ON MICROFILM(MICROFISH).

Comments:

We had a storm here in VaBeach, which left out East to sea at 930, I know because I photographed it for the news from my home at the oceanfront. Later I went up to get my tripod from the porch, at about 10, right when I opened the door it streaked across the sky, I stood there rationalizing it for about 10 minutes. The storm was gone, I knew it wasn't lightning, I know lightning, I photograph it frequently, plus this was a ball, green, with a slight tail. Also there is a Navy base to the North of me, but they do not do any kind of testing, I knew it wasn't any missile or anything, as it was also silent. I still cant wrap my head around it, id love to hear your opinions.

The whole damn thing was unusual. But other than that, no.

Comments:

I was on patrol with the Sheriff's office when this took place.  I was with another officer who also witnessed this.  We were talking outside of our units when the night sky lit up bright.  We looked up and there it was, trailing across the sky.  If I held my index finger up, the ball of it was slightly bigger than my finger. The tail of it appeared to be maybe the size of my fist from side to side, if not it was longer than that.  Both of these measurements are with my arm fully extended out.  I would like to find out if anyone else saw this thing.

I lost sight of it when it behind some houses. But if it followed the direction it seemed to be taking it woudl have impacted.

Unusual:

The color was unlike anything I have ever seen. And it was so much brighter than anything else in teh sky. I have seen "shooting stars" before and this was so much larger and brighter. 

Comments:

Several seconds after I lost sight of the object, there was a flash that lit up the sky. It wasn't very bright, but it was noticeable. The flash was slightly blue in color.

I've seen plenty of meteorites before but this was completely surreal. So big, bright and close in proximity. Wish I had my camera on me.

I have near seen an object so bright that it lit the entire sky up. I thought someone was shining a very bright light at me. Then I saw the Fireball in the sky.

I have been watching the local news and checking the internet but have found no information so far.

No it looked as if it had a "fire trail" It fell straight down through the cloud deck

It looked as if it were falling to the ground under gravities force I'd say about a 4. (10 being the fastest)

Sound:

No I was driving at the time

Impact:

I believe so I was driving into a gully so I could not see the horizon

Unusual:

It was very large. Yet we have found nothing nor heard anything about it

Comments:

My wife, father, sister and I were driving home from hunting in two separate vehicles. We were south of Great Falls heading north. My wife and I saw A "fire ball" fall straight down through the cloud deck. It appeared to be very large, and not very far away maybe 60 or 70 miles. It was reddish orange in color and had a definite fire trail. It looked like a rocket taking off through the clouds except it was falling not climbing. We asked my father and sister via walkie-talkie if they saw that. they replied that they had. Yet we have found no one else who saw it.

Smoke Trail: yes  - after the fireball went out we could see a smoke trail

Impact: Could not tell

Anything unusual about the object? I've never seen one, so the whole thing was unusual to us

Comments: It was the coolest thing to see!

Impact: It passed out of sight, although it definitely appeared to be descending.

Unusual: The sheer size (almost the size of a full moon) and its green color was shocking.  It was certainly on its way crashing to earth.

Comments:

I saw the "green fireball" while driving home from work.  It appeared to be absolutely huge and was crashing to earth.  I assumed it was a meteorite, but its sheer size was astounding.  I called 911 to report the event, so they would be on guard in case it landed in a populated area.  I estimated that it would land somewhere to the west of Wonder Lake, IL.  After thinking about it more, I realize that looks may be deceiving so the "crash site" would probably be further away than I originally thought, but it's hard to say.

Sound: no sounds

Impact: no sure

Unusual: Not really, was just the most bright I've ever seen.  Live in rural area, no blinding city lights makes clear skies.  See them all the time, this one was just huge and exploded into many pieces.

Comments:

I was standing outside taking pictures of ice that was coating the wind chimes.  Suddenly a bright pink light lit up the entire southern sky.  Within a minute another one appeared, well above the horizon (45 degrees).  I had my phone with me (using the camera to take the pictures) and I called my

landlady and asked if she had seen it.  She was standing by the window that faces southwest when another white light lit up the sky, then another one.

The lights on a radio tower just a couple of miles away went out, then almost immediately they came back on.  I came in and checked the weather radar to see if there were a storm to the south that could cause lightening. There were no storms to the south, not even for 200 miles.

As it approached it was intact, but as it passed by it appeared to break up into smaller parts and then disappeared heading south directly over the city airport. like I say I thought it was an airplane approaching and when it began to flash and leave a fire trail behind it that I realized it wasn't a plane.

To dark to tell  , but it did trail fire

Speed:

probably a 2 or a 3  (10 being the fastest)

Sound:

No, I was in my truck and the radio was on.

Impact:

Not that I could see

Unusual:

it appeared to pulse or flash several times before it broke up

Comments:

I asked a few people at work if they had seen anything, but no one had. there was no mention of it on the local news either.

Unusual: Extremely bright green, quite large and a very large smoke trail. Did not descend like a shooting star, stayed level with the horizon. Traveled east to west. The sky was very clear and dark and this is  a remote area that offered a great view of the entire sky.

Sound: No I was by a truck stop

Impact: I could not see where it did but it definitely looked like it did

Unusual: Constant bright blue and red like a huge match and how fast it was going, not like a "shooting star" which I did have one fly past my face in 2000, this left no smell.

Comments: This almost appeared to be a small missile shaped object and concerned me because it headed towards an area of tanks and factories and near the RR tracts. I was afraid it could be detonated later, a plane flew past from the same direction the object came from, about 15 minutes later

Event Description:

Last night around 2:30AM in Central Phoenix, 3 friends and myself were outside hanging out in a friend's driveway. We were all chatting and joking around when a bright flash of light lit everyone up for a few seconds coming from the western part of the sky. I paused and one friend asked, "Did everyone else just see that?" I was relieved that I wasn't the only one who saw. I'm not sure if  We immediately got scared and left. Can anyone please tell me if they saw this around their neighborhood? I tried to think of it as a creepy neighbor taking a photo but...this was IN the sky. Was it a meteor? A shooting star? My friends that were there kept joking that aliens were taking photos of us and put it aside.   

It was big enough to light up the whole driveway, perfect white light, no sound whatsoever and it was just one bright flash.
