Skyquake / Low Rumble in Fredericktown, Missouri December 7, 2005

Report Type: Skyquake       Date: December 7, 2005    Time: 10:40 - 11:00 AM Central   City: Fredericktown

State: Missouri      Country: USA

Duration of Event: 1 to 2 minutes

Event Description:

The sound was a deep, low, rumbling. .  like a sonic-boom. There were two in a row only a few seconds apart. The first one sort of "rolled" in, starting quietly and escalating to the loudest part then winding down. It hadn't completely dissipated when the second wave rolled in the same way and gradually quieted. The explosions "overlapped" in that way. It seemed to last about one or two minutes. The glass panes in the china hutch rattled as did the glass panes in the older window I was standing next to. Also, the curtains seemed to "pulse" to the subtle "waves" of the sound.

I looked on the USGS site to determine if there was an earthquake in the area or down south of us (seemed like it rolled in from the south). While there was none reported for that time, I did observe many of the seismograph readings online for the region. It looked to me that there was some sort of brief seismic activity recorded on a few of the TN stations for the time period in question. I submitted a "did you feel it" report to the USGS and have not had a response as of yet.

A large meteor was spotted in the sky over California.  The object was mostly greenish with a greenish blue tail.  The size was compared to a "half of moon", and was the largest the witness had ever seen.  There was no sound and it didn't impact, just disappeared over the horizon traveling south.  Witness also was puzzled that there was nothing in the media about this, since it was so large.  The speed of this object was slow, 2 on a scale from 1 to 10 with 10 being the fastest.

Huge Green Fireball with Rumble Witnessed over California   December 4, 2005

Date: December 4, 2005 Time: Between 11:25 PM Shape: Meteor/Fireball  Duration: 3 Seconds

Location: Camarillo,  California  USA

Color: Brilliant Green.  Sound: The sound was like a deep roar, unlike anything such as a train or truck... a deep rumble that caused me to look up.

Sighting Detail:

The fireball / meteor was enormous -- (2 or 3 large aircraft in flame) and the color was brilliant green as it traveled from west to south.

I did not see the impact which was obscured from view by a low lying building.  At 15 - 20 degree elevation it exploded into an enormous fireball (but remained a round ball of green light) and was traveling fast enough to hit ground as this same fireball.

I immediately cleared my view to see the point of impact which should have been within sight across open fields for 7 - 10 miles.  I also drove immediately into the fields where it would have been grounded and in flames but there was nothing.  It likely was over the ocean as there were no reports of fire along the coastal communities of Oxnard, Port Hueneme or Ventura according to the sheriff.   Vandenberg AFB and the Ventura County Sheriff's office received several calls regarding the sighting.

The speed was a 6 on a scale from 1 to 10, with 10 being the fastest.

Location: Tupper BC , Canada

Color: White  Sound: YesThat is what made me look out window.  I thought a grader was going down the road.

Sighting Detail:

Very unusual sky activity for this region. I have to think now that it was fireball/fireballs though at first I was not sure and thought the streams looked like jet streams.  Seven white fireball type objects in a row arced to fall to earth.  The seven objects were traveling from the North to the South West.  The object left a smoke trail similar to that of a jet airplanes

Smoke Trail:

Yes.  I thought they were jet streams at first til I realized there were 7 in a row

Impact:

I would assume by the arc that they did impact the earth near the BC/AB between Tupper and Demmitt AB

Buildings shook Tuesday when a mysterious boom was heard across San Diego County, but authorities could not immediately pinpoint the source of the activity.

The boom heard around 8:45 a.m. rattled the San Diego County Sheriff's Department building in Clairemont Mesa, said sheriff's Lt. Jim Bolwerk.

Bolwerk said residents from all over, including Ramona, called sheriff's dispatchers to report the loud noise, which some speculated was a sonic boom or an earthquake.

But no measurable seismic activity was recorded in San Diego County this morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey, and Navy and Marine Corps Air Station Miramar officials had no reports of a sonic boom occurring Tuesday.

Marines at Camp Pendleton were conducting mortar training Tuesday morning, but base officials, who also received calls about the boom, said they did not know if the noise was a result of the training.

San Diego police also received multiple calls from people wondering about what they heard, said Dave Cohen of the SDPD.

No damage or injuries were reported.

Fireball Over Chatsworth, California March 25, 2006

Date: March 25, 2006 Time: 4:00 AM Shape: Meteor/Fireball  Duration: Few seconds.

Location: Chatsworth, California  USA

Color: Orange / Yellow  Sound: None

Sighting Detail:

For the first three seconds I did not look up. Everything around me was bright, as though a giant fluorescent light switch was turned on....but a very bright one. The brightness of that and the fireball strained my eyes a bit, sort of like after you stared into a flash photo.

The direction the fireball was traveling was North-East.
The sky lit up brighter than those police helicopter lights. I looked up and it looked like a large beach ball nursing with a fire
trail. It fell through the sky.

It fell from the sky in a bit of an arch.

Speed: If a shooting star is a 6, this was a 4

Did it Impact:

Perhaps....judging from it's proximity. But I did not see any impact.

Additional Comments:

I was looking down at the earth when everything lit up around me. I thought someone was pointing a strong flash light on me, but it was dead quiet. I was afraid to look up at first. I then looked around and saw it was bright everywhere and there was no one light beam. That is when I looked up and saw the fireball (meteor?) fall from the sky.

Fireball Spotted Over / Near Miramar and camp Pendleton bases, San Diego, California /8/6/2006

Duration of Event: 4 seconds

Event Description:

Around 9:40 PM PST a fireball was spotted near Miramar and camp Pendleton bases in San Diego California.  The fireball traveled west to east and resembled a comet with actual fire for the tail instead of the traditional shooting star type tail.  Colors were described as Red, orange and white.

The object appeared to travel slowly from west to east and dissapeared out of view behind my block wall. approx 2 seconds after losing site, there was an obvious but dull flash over the horizon like it had exploded upon impact.  The flash was a dull yellow in color and lasted approx 1 second.  No noise was heard with the flash.

"Both the Miramar and camp Pendleton bases are in the close proximity from which the object was first observed and traveled from the direction of the pacific ocean, west."

Strange Rumbling Sound  / White Glowing Object in Sky.  Britain

Report Type: Skyquake       Date: November 24, 2006    Time: 2:45 AM   Location: South Yorkshire, Rotherham Britain

Duration of Event: Three to four minutes.

Event Description:

About an hour ago I heard the same loud noises that occurred about a year ago over my town. Last year at around 7:30pm I heard several weird loud rumbling noises in the sky, but didn't see anything. At the time of the noises everyone was out on the street talking about it all thinking its some sort of building collapsing. The rumbling noises sounded very similar to thunder but faded out much more quicker (thunder usually fades out slowly but these didn't even fade out they just stopped straight off with an echo), and the noises didn't have booms at the start either like thunder usually does. These noises were so loud and freaky, they scared the hell out of me and my family. There were about 15 of these noises last year before they eventually stopped and they each lasted around 5-7 seconds but each one varied. Like I've already mentioned about an hour ago I heard these exact same noises (about 7 of them this time) coming from the sky but most people would be asleep at the moment and would probably not have heard them this time round. They didn't last as long this time and they only took about 1-2 minutes to eventually stop altogether. Weirdly enough just after the noises this time I saw a strange white glowing object in the sky (almost like a star) just fade away but I have no idea of weather or not it was related to the noises in any way.

There's nothing else I can say really other than how freaked out I am by these strange loud noises and I would love to find out sometime what they were. Hopefully they will occur again sometime so I can record them onto a sound device and share them with other people around the internet and elsewhere.

Duration of Event: Few seconds.

Event Description:

Sounded like my house exploded.  It only lasted a few seconds, but that's enough to scare the pants off a person.  This happened only a few ago also.  I don't remember the other date, but it was the same sound and shook the house so bad that it knocked things off my walls.  .

I wish this would stop or someone should at lease give  us a warning.  With everything that is happening in our world today I thought I had a bomb dropped on my home

Two Skyquakes in San Diego, California - January 5, 2007

Report Type: Skyquake    Date: January 5, 2007  Time: 4:53 PM PDT Location: San Diego (Pacific Beach), California USA

Duration of Event: 8 Seconds (6 seconds apart).

Event Description:

We just had a "SkyQuake" here in San Diego (Pacific Beach). Two sudden shuddering of windows roughly 6 seconds apart or so. The second one was stronger and shook the ground. These usually don't show up on seismic instruments but I definitely felt it! It's strange because I didn't "hear" anything, but I definitely heard the windows rattle, and again on the second one the ground shook. We had another one here back around May, which was reported on local TV. I've been through more of these than 'real' earthquakes, honestly. You reported a 'sonic incident' several years ago around here, which I experienced too.

Skyquake Heard Over Weston, Florida - September 9, 2007

Report Type: Skyquake    Date: September 9, 2007  Time: 1:00 AM   Location: Weston, Florida USA

Duration of Event: 15 Seconds

Event Description:

Had been raining, lightly thundering but this wasn't thunder. A single loud explosion or blast (sounded like a gas stove explosion in a restaurant here few years back-that loud) that shook the windows, french doors. I was the only one awake although everyone else woke up after & thought maybe it was just thunder. I went outside to check but couldn't see anything. Checked the news stations, blogs the next morning but found nothing. We have transformers blow here all the time during the last hurricane, but this was nothing like that. Was almost like a bomb.

Have noticed very strong vibrations/shaking from the ground happening every few months in the middle of the night that last for up to a few minutes.

Loud Boom with White Flash / Yellow Lights - South Carolina October 18, 2007

Report Type: Skyquake / Lights    Date: October 18, 2007 Time: 10:02 PM EST   Location: North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina USA

Duration of Event: 15 Seconds

Event Description:

I was on the 11th floor of condo, ocean front. was watching ships out in the ocean. It was dark. Storms moving in from the west in a few hours but there was a full moon and clear skies out. I could see stars in the sky. A few clouds in the east, over the ocean but not many. Suddenly saw a boom of white light and heard a blast, but was hard to hear because of the ocean waves. It disappeared almost as quickly as it happened. Then about 10 seconds later, I saw 2 yellow lights glow then disappear. They looked like 2 planes maybe because they seemed to separate. Then they disappeared. After about 16 minutes, the same thing happened. My husband saw that blast of white light, but went inside before the 2 yellow lights appeared, then instantly disappeared. I chalk it up to night military maneuvers simply because I don't believe in UFO's.

Unusual "Trumpet Like Noise" Reported in Raleigh, North Carolina USA

Report Type: Skyquake    Date: October 5, 2007 Time: 2:00 PM EST   Location: Raleigh, North Carolina USA

Duration of Event:  15 minutes

Event Description:

The explosions started off as a faint roaring sound, as if there was a chainsaw in the distance. Then each one would grow louder until it became a booming trumpet-like noise that echoed and rattled my apartment building. The closest example I can give of what it sounded like is the sound the tripods in War of the Worlds make. The event lasted for about 15 minutes, with the booms occurring generally once or twice per minute. Each boom seemed to be followed by a rushing windy sound.

After hearing the persistent booming for a few minutes I got out of bed and went to the window, looked out and noticed that people from my apartment building and from buildings across the street had gone outside and were staring at the sky. My boyfriend also heard the sounds. However, I live right beside a 24-hour news station, and even though people were outside looking and the phone lines to the police were busy, there was absolutely no coverage of anything dealing with explosions in the area.
